Throughout the year St. John’s has special events especially for the children, with our youth participating as helpers, along with a team of adults. We also host events for the whole family, including movie nights at the church and our annual mini-golf outing after worship on a Sunday in June. Watch the Herald, eHerald, and Enlightener for details. Several times a year, George & Patricia Kaufman open their property for a special day of hiking, swimming and other outdoor activities – watch for details.
One of our new traditions is the Potluck Productions dinner and a show, held several times a year during our Wednesday night Enrichment series. All are invited to bring a ‘covered dish’ to share followed by special entertainment. Watch the Enlightener and the Herald for announcements for the next Potluck productions event!
A St. John’s tradition since 2012 is our annual Mini Golf Outing, a fun family event held on a Sunday in late June following 10:15 am worship. We gather for a pizza lunch at noon, then head to Freddy Hill Fun Center by 1 pm for a fun game of mini golf & ice cream! The event is open to all ages & golf abilities: singles, couples & families all participate – there is a place on a team for you! Prizes are awarded in several categories. Watch for sign up sheets in June during Fellowship Time. The cost of $10. includes lunch, golf & ice cream.
Also, special church family Movie Nights are scheduled as we gather to watch a family-friendly film with snacks provided – watch the Enlightener & Herald for announcements.
CHILDREN’S ADVENT EVENT
During the season of Advent, St. John’s hosts a special celebration for the children to help them prepare for the Advent/Christmas season, with crafts, music, dance, stories, and refreshments. Once a Saturday gathering, this event is now part of our Wednesday night Enrichment program in December. Watch for information about our 2016 event as we get closer to the Advent season.
