Sunday, January 29, 2023: Worship service at 10:15 am ONLY this week – NO 8:00 am service!  Sermon: “Standing or Sitting?” Rev. Dale Davis.  Scripture: Matthew 5:1-12 Micah 6:1-8.  Music: Walk In Light, Karen Marrolli  True Light, Keith Hampton, Combined St. John’s and Trinity Choir. Service followed by an important congregational meeting, and then followed by a congregational dinner in the Assembly Hall featuring pork and sauerkraut.

 

Note: The Church Council of St. John’s UCC has called for a Congregational Meeting this Sunday following the 10:15 AM worship service in the Sanctuary prior to the Congregational Dinner in the Assembly Hall. Agenda topics will include the Election of new members of Church Council, information about our Visioning, Search and Call process for a new Sr. Pastor, and planning for Pastor Addie’s upcoming Sabbatical. We encourage all members to attend this meeting to participate in this important work of our community of faith.

As of Jan. 27, positions remain to be filled on two of our Boards:  3 Deacons and 1 Educator.  If you or someone you know have an interest & skills to serve our congregation on either of these boards, please speak with Liz Rivett, Mark Bruen, Pastor Dale, Pastor Addie, or any of the current board members.

 

Sunday, February 5, 2023:  Worship services at 8:00 & 10:15 am. Sermon: Rev. Addie Stong.  Scripture: Matthew 5:13-20 Psalm 112:1-9. Music: A Childhood Hymn, arr. David R. Holsinger. Sunday School in-person gathering from 9 – 10 am.

Announcements for Upcoming Events & Projects

 

The February Women’s Retreat will meet on Sarurday, February 11 at 9:30 am.  All attendees should bring a book to share.

 

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22, with a pizza dinner in the Assembly Hall, followed by worship service at 7:00 pm.

 

Visit our church library to see 42 new books that are all “Rev. Sue Favorites!” Each month 3 books are highlighted in The Enlightener. These special books are available for adults & children to borrow for a week. Please use the purple notebook to check out your book; help us take good care of these special books, purchased in honor of Rev. Sue. There are more excellent children’s books downstairs in our Children’s Library!

Helping Hands Ministry needs drivers to take members to medical appointments.  To volunteer, please call Lisa in the Church Office, 215-855-5489.
 
The Hospitality Teams, who act as greeters & ushers each week, are looking for new members.  Each team serves once every four weeks.  Call the church office if you are interested.
