           Praying Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry – Upcoming 2019 Meeting Dates

Group meets in the church Library, from 6:30-7:30 pm:
Mon., Oct. 7, Mon., Nov. 4, Mon., Dec. 2.  (Future dates will be published later, but it’s always on a Monday night.)

This ministry is open to anyone with an interest in knitting or crocheting a Prayer Shawl or a Love Square. We meet at church once a month, every third Monday, from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm in the Assembly Hall. We do not meet in July or August.

A Prayer Shawl is a long-term project, taking at least ten hours to complete. A Love Square is a short term project, taking about an hour to complete. We’d love to have you make either or both for our ministry!

All materials will be provided for you if you need them. Instructions to learn can also be given. We are a friendly group who have been knitting Prayer Shawls for about ten years! We just began making the Love Squares back in the summer of 2016.

We give away our Prayer Shawls in church, four Sundays a year. Pastors Sue and Addie have access to Prayer Shawls if one is needed in-between our Prayer Shawl Sundays. They are for anyone who needs some comfort and love.

Our Love Squares will be given to anyone in our church’s “Grief Group” and will also be placed on the “Care Cart” at Lansdale Abington Hospital to provide comfort for patients or their families.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Ryan Faga at [email protected], or call her at 215 368 8338.  All who knit or crochet, or want to learn, are welcome – we are always happy to welcome new members!

St. John’s Quilters

St. John’s Quilters have been making quilts for Native Americans, distributed from UCC churches in North & South Dakota & Nebraska.  Please join us – all are welcome, no experience is necessary!  Meetings are held each Tuesday in the Assembly Hall.  Contact Dottie Rittenhouse at 215-855-7437 for more information.

St. John’s Stampers

St. John’s Stampers create beautiful handmade cards, many of which go to our home-bound members and folks on our Prayer List.  The Stampers hold card sales several Sundays each year during the Fellowship Time after the 10:15 am worship service.  Watch for announcements in the Herald, Enlightener & Bulletin!  The Stampers meet the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm.
