St. John’s Groups & Meetings

There are a number of small groups that meet regularly throughout the year and welcome new members at all times. They include a monthly Saturday morning retreat for women, a men’s breakfast that meets monthly at area restaurants, a Monday evening prayer group, St. John’s Prayer Shawl Ministry & St. John’s Quilters (see more under Missions tab), St. John’s Health Ministry Team (see more below), St. John’s Stampers, St. John’s Gardeners, and “Breaking Bread”, an informal dining and fellowship group which gathers the 2nd Sunday of the month at a local restaurant after the 10:15 am worship service – all are welcome to attend any month you are available – see the Herald for details.

Periodically throughout the year, Wednesday evening Bible Study is offered, focusing on specific themes or books of the Bible.  There is a five week session in the fall, a five week session during the season of Lent, and four evenings of adult Bible Study that coincide with our annual Vacation Bible School in June.

Below: St. John’s Stampers create beautiful handmade cards, many of which go to our home-bound members and folks on our Prayer List.

St. John’s Health Ministry Team

Our St. John’s Health Ministry Team meets regularly to provide health and wellness services to our congregation.  It is comprised of members of St. John’s who are trained for and/or work in the health care field. They are also “on standby” should any medical situation or emergency arise during worship services or any events at St. John’s.  Our St. John’s Health Ministry Team offers regular blood pressure screenings after worship on a monthly basis at the church as well as other special services – check the Enlightener & Herald for schedules.

St. John’s Health Ministry is collecting empty, clean medicine pill bottles. A collection container will be available on the same day that the HM member is recording blood pressures. If you have been recycling your pill bottles, please continue. However, if you have not been recycling, please consider bringing the empty pill bottles to church and place them in the designated container. These pill bottles will be collected for use in impoverished countries.

Shelly Longcoy (R.N.) of our team is offering a support group called “Help Yourself to Healthy Living” on the 4th Thursday of each month.  Each month Shelly will discuss a different health/wellness related topic followed by a discussion period.  Contact Shelly at [email protected]

Umbrella Ministry – Want to join a group with no meetings? Our St. John’s Umbrella Ministry is for you!  Simply pick a Sunday you are available, sign up on the bulletin board in the hall outside the Library, and come by 9:45 am that Sunday. Responsibilities are to greet the congregation using the ramp entrance, open the door for those coming in, & help when it is raining by helping people in with an umbrella.  New volunteers are always welcome!
