About Worship

This is a summary of the weekly worship opportunities offered at St. John’s especially written for our first time visitors.  More details on our services and our special worship opportunities are found under the “Worship” tab of this website.

St. John’s now offers two worship opportunities each week.  We hold one Sunday worship service each Sunday morning at 10:15 am in the sanctuary.  Our service blends the styles of a traditional worship service with elements of contemporary worship.  We also offer a shorter, less formal service each Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm as part of our Wednesday Night Live program from Labor Day to Memorial Day weeks.

Our Sunday worship service starts at 10:15 am and lasts about an hour.  This service includes organ music, choral and instrumental selections offered by one or more of St. John’s choirs, a children’s message, and opportunities for hymn singing, scripture readings, and a sermon.  A Fellowship Time for refreshments & informal conversation follows this service in our Assembly Hall on the ground floor, accessible by elevator.

Our Wednesday evening worship service starts about 5:30 pm and lasts about 20-25 minutes.  This is an informal and casual service designed to fit with our Wednesday Night Live program.  The music is played on a classic church upright piano.  The short service is an opening familiar hymn, a scripture reading, a short meditation by the pastor, an opportunity for the congregation to give ‘joys and concerns’ if they wish, the Lord’s Prayer, an informal communion by intinction, and a closing familiar hymn.
