Adult Education

Beginning in September, 2023, we are now offering two Adult Education programs each week from Labor Day to Memorial Day.  These classes will focus on ‘digging deeper’ into the focus Bible scripture reading for that Sunday in worship.  The classes offer an opportunity to ask questions and discuss in-depth these scripture readings in an informal setting with the pastor.

Wednesday Night Live Adult Education – Wednesdays at 6:00 pm:  We take a ‘deeper dive”, a look at the scripture text for the upcoming Sunday combined with some key questions that enable participants to connect the scripture to their lives and experience.  (We meet in the church Library on the first floor off the sanctuary.)

Sunday Morning Adult Education – Sundays at 9:00 am:  We focus on the morning scripture with group conversation oriented around preparing ourselves for worship at 10:15 am.  (We meet in the Fireside Room on the ground floor near the elevator.)

Recent History of St. John’s Adult Education & Bible Study: Adult Bible Study has been part of our history since our founding in 1876. One of the main reasons our church was established was the need for Bible study in the newly-established Lansdale community.  In recent years, St. John’s has held an Adult Bible Study on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the Library during the seasons of Fall and Spring, led by our pastors.  In 2020 & 2021 we successfully held our studies online as a Zoom meeting, then returned to in-person studies in the Library in Spring, 2022.  We have also in the past held an adult Bible study during the evenings of Vacation Bible School in June, also led by our pastors.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic. this has not taken place since 2020, so we could concentrate on take-home activities for our children’s VBS. We are happy to re-establish twice-weekly Adult Education opportunities in 2023.
